Hearing carols wherever you go, seeing the decorated trees and smelling the pines. Cold, crisp, some sunshine, many colours, laughter, hot drinks excitement in the air. Tinkling bells when shop doors open, a whiff of the smell of mouthwatering bakery, children shrieking with excitement and happy dogs barking and cavorting.
A time to get together with family and loved ones. A time that could be very lonely for those without. A time of nostalgia that could turn into grief if left unchecked. A time that could become a tender remembrance of things that were.
A great deal of food, many friends, the excitement of getting together with others, exchanging gifts, friends, family, even strangers. Togetherness.
A note of holiness. A reminder of what the real meaning of Christ’s birth means. A feeling of peace, contentment and happiness. A fulfilment of promises made. Christ is born, our Saviour has come. Our sins will be forgiven, our souls will be saved. Life eternal is promised. And goodness shall follow through all your life.
A lovely time and a difficult time. A time to enjoy and a time to reflect. A time to appreciate all you have and a time to remember all you lost.
